With the pervasiveness of the modern-day personal computer, it is hard to imagine our lives without them. In all aspects of our day-to-day activities, computers are involved that allow us to do things faster, more efficiently or more safely. We've grown accustomed to doing things as quickly as possible, and now won't settle for anything less.
When our ability to do things as quickly as we like is impeded, we can easily become irritated. This is especially true when dealing with computers. As we know, computers are used in our daily tasks and whether we're using it for work, school or just to communicate with friends and family, even the slightest drop in performance can leave us frustrated.
However, there are a number of easy ways that can help get your computer back up to full speed, allowing you to accomplish your work without any frustrating slow-downs. In this article, we discuss three well-known methods to increase the speed of your computer.
1. Upgrade your RAM
As your computer increases in age, you may have noticed that it has problems running newer software. Because new software is designed to take advantage of the newest, fastest computers, those who don't meet the optimal requirements for operation might encounter slower speeds or long pauses. One easy fix for the problem is to simply add more RAM. Adding RAM, which stands for Random Access Memory, can actually boost your computer's speed by quite a bit and can help to reduce or eliminate any slowness you are encountering.
2. Clean The Registry Of Your Computer
The computer registry is not a very commonly known area in the computer but it plays a very important role in their speed. The registry has a number of different files (AKA registry keys) that tells the computer how and what to operate. If the computer has been used for years already, then it is likely that some of the files in the registry have been corrupted already, which causes the pc to slow down. To solve this problem, you need a registry cleaner software to clean it out and fix any problems in the registry.
3. Do not Have Too Many Programs Running
While we all love to multi-task and get things done as quickly as possible, using multiple programs at once will slow your computer down. For example, if you are using the internet while also running Microsoft Word and Microsoft Powerpoint, your computer is required to process the information from all three and will not perform as quickly with just one program running. Each computer will handle multiple workloads differently, but if your computer starts to slow down while doing so, you'll know you've reached its limits.
