Windows registry:
The registry forms a vital part in Windows based computers. It stores important information for Windows which is required by the operating system while executing programs. Windows scans the registry each time it looks for relevant data. With the use of your PC, errors such as obsolete data, invalid information, incomplete, corrupted and redundant entries start to build up in the registry. With this, the size of the registry increases. Windows takes more and more time to scan the registry and your computer starts to run slow. Microsoft Windows repair can help you remove errors from your registry system and keeps your computer performing normally.
With the build-up of errors, there is often conflicting information. At that point your Windows operating system cannot decide which data to retrieve and your computer hangs. At some point your computer would fail to boot which then becomes a serious problem. You may have to re-format your hard drive and re-install your Windows operating system. If you do not have the current back-up of your data, you will lose it all. Microsoft Windows repair can take care of several Windows problems and errors which develop in the registry. The errors must be removed from time to time in order to keep your computer functioning normally.

The Windows XP CD that has been provided by Microsoft, contains the recovery console which is used for Windows repair and install. The CD auto loads in your computer, and the set up displays "Welcome to Setup" on your monitor. All you do is follow the instructions provided to repair and install Windows XP. You may need your administrative password in the process.
Before you start to use Microsoft Windows repair by running the recovery console, you need to make sure you are aware of certain things which are essential for Microsoft Windows XP repair and install. These include:
- Your administrative password which will be required as you go through the steps in your recovery process. - Some MS-DOS experience is necessary in the Microsoft Windows repair process. - The root directory, and Microsoft Windows, or WINNT directories are the only ones available to you. You cannot access any other directory other than the ones mentioned. - You will only have access to the floppy drive, CD-ROM drive and any other drive other than your hard drive. You will not be able to copy/paste from your hard drive to any other drive. You can, of course, copy/paste from and to the drives accessible.
Your Windows XP CD provides you with the facility to repair Windows errors. You need to back-up the data in your computer, and you should always take this back-up on a separate hard drive, a CD, or on network storage. In this way, the data that you have backed up will not be affected by any repair you do on the Windows operating system. Before attempting the repair to install Windows, look up the descriptions of appropriate warning links available on the Internet. Microsoft provides you with instructions to repair Windows from the CD provided.
Follow the instructions correctly in order to retain your data as you proceed with repair and installation of your Windows XP. The process will enable you to replace the damaged Windows files while retaining the data you have in your computer with your settings and applications remaining as before.
